It’s official: Toronto FC will miss the MLS post-season for a seventh-straight season, an MLS record it continues to extend.

In a way, Toronto’s 2-0 loss in New York Saturday night brought closure to another listless season.

The Reds, who were never in the playoff picture to begin with, were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention at Red Bull Arena.

Goals in both halves kept the Reds winless in seven with Thierry Henry providing the game-winner just over a half-hour into the match when he capped off a passing sequence at the back post.

A timid start opened up in the 32nd minute up when Michael Bustamante slipped Dax McCarty into space that had opened between Ashtone Morgan and Gale Agbossoumonde, a brief stint of horrid organization that McCarty punished with a threaded pass to Henry metres from goal.
