Former Toronto FC midfielder Terry Dunfield is still looking for a job after being dumped mid-season by TFC bench boss Ryan Nelsen and Co.

He’s in Vancouver this week for a kickaround with the Whitecaps, who made it clear they aren’t interested in bringing the one-time Canadian international back.

“Just helping him out,” Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie told mlssoccer.com of Dunfield suddenly appearing at ’Caps training this week.

“It’s great of the organization to give me the opportunity to train,” Dunfield told reporters. “I enjoyed every minute of it.”

Toronto waived Dunfield on June 13 before the summer deadline to manufacture a fair bit of cap relief ahead of July.

With new boy wonder Matias Laba in the mix centrally, the 31-year-old Dunfield was deemed excess to what was necessary due to his fairly sizeable cap hit and age.
