TORONTO - Toronto FC’s MLS fixtures have become secondary to rumoured acquisitions as the summer transfer window is coming to a close.

Following TFC’s pre-match training Friday afternoon, Nelsen fielded 10 minutes of questions, none of which referenced Saturday’s match against the visiting Columbus Crew.

As Allen Iverson once said, reporters and fans aren’t talking about the games anymore.

In a sense, with the playoffs unofficially out of reach, they no longer matter.

All that matters now is who and when — who have the Reds pinpointed to improve the squad and when will they arrive?

“We don’t want to make mistakes from the past and be in the same position this year or two years from now,” Nelsen said, a broken-record response that has been repeated for more than a month. “We want to build it and build it right so it will be four, five, six years that this club is a strong club.”
