Answer your phones, Canadian Soccer Association, Toronto FC’s a bit irked at your lack of leniency.
Toronto head coach Ryan Nelsen used time normally reserved for talking about Saturday’s opponent to have a go at what he called a thankless federation that’s not interested in returning favours.
In short, after releasing four of his players — Kyle Bekker, Doneil Henry, Jonathan Osorio, and Ashtone Morgan — to suit up for Canada in next month’s Gold Cup, Nelsen said the Reds have asked the CSA to allow two players to stick around an extra day for next Wednesday’s game against visiting Montreal.
The foursome is scheduled to depart for Canada’s camp in on Tuesday, a day before the Reds meet their Canadian rivals.
So, instead of previewing Saturday’s game against visiting Real Salt Lake, Nelsen used Friday’s media chit-chat as a platform to let loose on the embattled CSA.
