Among other words, “Worst team in the world” almost immediately pops up.
Remember when that came out?
The Dutchman said it following a 3-1 loss to D.C. United last season, the club’s league record ninth straight to start 2012.
Sure, Koevermans’ words were misconstrued.
He didn’t actually say TFC was the worst team in the world. In terms of talent, it is not.
There are plenty of clubs in lesser leagues around the globe — Nicaragua comes to mind — that would get smashed by any MLS or NASL side.
“We’re setting a record for worst team in the world, man,” were Koevermans’ actual words.
A little different than the direction some media types took it, but I digress.
