Montreal Impact owner Joey Saputo is known for being animated, a hands-on manager who apologized to fans when his head coach’s “gamble” last week led to the Impact losing 2-0 at BMO Field after a lopsided affair.

That was the first leg of this Canadian Championship semifinal, a competition bashed by some but heralded by many supporters as being of utmost importance — something Impact supporters proved on the weekend when they protested Marco Schallibaum’s decision to play a scrub squad last week.
