TORONTO - QMI Agency has learned that Toronto FC's Torsten Frings, 36, remains two months away from being 100% match fit just a week away from Major League Soccer's Opening Day, according to a source close to the situation.
The German holding midfiedler was sent home from camp in Orlando last week for "personal reasons" and is believed to be struggling in his rehab to recover from off-season hip surgery.
Early Friday, reports began to surface that TFC is looking to buy out the remaining year of Frings' deal, a contract that was supposed to pay him as much as $2.5 million in 2013.
