TFC loses Frings to injury
By KURTIS LARSON, QMI Agency
TORONTO - Toronto FC announced Tuesday defensive anchor Torsten Frings will miss at least four weeks with a hamstring injury, forcing him out of a critical part of the club's early-season schedule and both legs of the Champions League semifinals.
Frings suffered the injury midway through the first half against Seattle on Saturday following an awkward lunge that saw him leave the pitch under the guidance of TFC staff.
The loss is a massive blow to Toronto's Champions League aspirations as the former German international played a huge part in the club advancing past the L.A. Galaxy last week in the CONCACAF quarterfinals.
The Reds will open at home this Saturday against the visiting San Jose Earthquakes.
