TFC-'Caps postponed again
By QMI Agency

The Canadian Cup has been postponed for a second time after Canadian Soccer Association officials deemed Toronto’s BMO Field unplayable because of prevailing field and weather conditions.

Officials abandoned Wednesday’s final midway through the second half due to lightning and were forced to move back Thursday’s replay to July 2 at 12:30 p.m.

The rescheduled match falls in line with the Vancouver Whitecaps’ league game in Toronto on June 29 and the visitors will be forced to concede the 2-1 aggregate advantage Eric Hassli provided in the 17th minute Wednesday.

Tournament rules say the game will be replayed in its entirety.

“It’s unfair,” Vancouver coach Tietur Thordarson said. “We have to start a new game and the advantage we’ve got from this game doesn’t count.”
