TORONTO -- Toronto FC has shuffled its roster, again.

The Major League Soccer team has moved right back Marvell Wynne, acquired by TFC in a 2007 trade, to the Colorado Rapids, in exchange for midfielder Nick LaBrocca, along with a third-round pick in the 2011 draft.

"The team is looking forward to having Nick join the club and we are excited for him to get here to begin working," TFC head coach Preki said in a release. "He's a consistent player and will make our midfield a lot stronger. Marvell is a great athlete and we wish him all the best. He's been a big part of this club and I'm sure he will be missed by the fans."

TFC is desperate for offence, having gone goalless in its most recent three pre-season tilts in South Carolina. The team has already shed offensive threats Amado Guevera, Pablo Vitti and Ali Gerba since last season.

LaBrocca scored two goals in 28 appearances for Colorado last season and is regarded as an excellent passer who can move the ball up the pitch.

He led the Rapids in games played, starts and minutes in 2008 when he was named the club's most improved player.

LaBrocca was a three-time all-Big East player while at Rutgers, has played for the United States' under-23 and under-20 squads and has been invited to training camp by the U.S. national team.

Wynne, a fan favourite, is one of the quickest players in the league, but when Preki said earlier in the week how pleased he was with the team's defence, it became obvious that someone could be sacrificed to boost the attack.

"My thing has always been we don't score the goals only (with) strikers, we score the goals with the whole team," Preki said on Tuesday. "We don't just defend with four guys, we defend with (the) whole team."

To that end, LaBrocca, the new midfielder will help put TFC's strikers in better positions, while the rest of the squad will pick up the slack with Wynne's departure.

TFC's season kicks off Saturday in Columbus.
