Toronto FC didn't look too far to replace John Carver after his resignation.

As expected, the soccer team promoted Carver's assistant and close friend from England Chris Cummins as the new head coach, with Vancouver-born Nick Dasovic moving up as his right-hand man. The appointments were made official today at BMO Field.

The two already combined on a win, 1-0 over the Kansas City Wizards on Sunday and ran the team for a 1-0 decision against Chivas USA a few days earlier when Carver first removed himself from the field before resigning.

Both coaches started with TFC at the beginning of 2008, Cummins coming from Luton Town with Carver and Dasovic moving over from various duties with the Canadian national program.

The 37-year-old Cummins coached youth academy teams in Luton and Watford in England. Dasovic, 40, played 62 international games for Canada as well as for several well-known pro teams, the Vancouver Whitecaps, North York Rockets and Montreal Impact and various clubs in Europe.

"This experience is just going to add to that," Dasovic said.
