Real Madrid welcomes Valladolid to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium today, needing a victory to stay within six points of Spanish league leader Barcelona, which beat Recreativo Huelva 2-0 yesterday.
Real Madrid also has to deal with reports of an uneasy relationship between coach Juande Ramos and Jose Maria Gutierrez.
The Madrid media have been focused on a supposed rivalry between the new coach and the longtime Madrid midfielder after a TV station trained a camera on Guti on the bench for the entirety of last weekend's 1-0 win at Malaga. Guti reportedly refused to warm up with five minutes to play.
"Listening to everything that's being said about me these past few days, it's like I killed somebody," Guti said. "Not in any moment did I refuse to warm up."
Guti hasn't been used much since returning from a long-term injury and even less since he showed his frustration after being substituted in a league match last month.
"I get along OK with him. We have a cordial relationship," Guti said of Ramos, who is unbeaten since taking over for the fired Bernd Schuster.
Lassana Diarra returns from injury while defender Sergio Ramos is suspended for today's match.
