Canada managed to pull out a 1-1 draw with France in an international women's soccer friendly Thursday in Nice.

Kaylyn Kyle scored the equalizer for Canada in injury time. Elodie Thomas scored for France late in the first half.

"As the half went on in the second half, you could see that confidence started to grow," Canadian coach John Herdman said. "Once that momentum was built, people started performing at the level that they can. I have to say, I was really impressed with the last 30 minutes."

It was the first meeting between the two teams since Canada beat France in the bronze-medal match at the 2012 London Olympics.

Canada will play England Sunday in Rotherham. Canada and England are tied for seventh in the world rankings.
