Canada downs Swiss in friendly
By QMI Agency

Canada's women's soccer team posted a 2-1 win over Switzerland in an international exhibition game Wednesday.

The win in Niederhasli, Switzerland, gives Canada a victory in the two-match series. Canada is preparing for the FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany, which gets under way June 26.

Canada's Christina Julien scored the winner in the second half. Switzerland's Ana Maria Crnogorcevic gave the home team the lead in the first half but an own goal by Swiss captain Caroline Abbe tied it up.

"We could have easily scored five goals," Canadian captain Christine Sinclair said. "We're definitely showing signs of improvement which is all we're looking for heading into the FIFA Women's World Cup."

Canada is now 7-2-1 in the run-up to the World Cup.
