Canada's women climb to sixth in FIFA rankings
By Sports Network

ZURICH, Switzerland -- Canada climbed three spots to sixth in the FIFA women's rankings on Friday, making the biggest jump of any country in the top 50 to claim the highest ranking in its history.

Canada was tied for its highest-ever ranking in the last poll after moving up four places in November, and posted eight victories and two ties in 11 matches since to overtake Korea DPR, Norway and France.

The Canadians won the 12-team Cyprus Cup, which included five nations that are competing in this summer's FIFA World Cup in Germany, earlier this month.

The United States, Germany and Brazil remain the top three countries, followed by Japan - which climbed one place to its highest-ever ranking - and Sweden to round out the top five
