Canada to host 2015 Women's World Cup
By BOB MACKIN, QMI Agency

Canada will be named host of soccer's 2015 Women's World Cup.

Zimbabwe was the only other nation bidding for the world's top women's soccer tournament, but FIFA said it withdrew on Tuesday. Canada awaits confirmation from FIFA's executive board on Wednesday or Thursday. Canada would also host the 2014 Women's Under-20 World Cup as a test event.

Canada hosted the 2002 women's under-19 world championship and 2007 Men's Under-20 World Cup.

The Canadian women's team was the top qualifier from CONCACAF for the 2011 Women's World Cup, which begins June 26 in Germany.
