Vancouver Whitecaps will attempt to win the city its second North American men's soccer title next weekend after upsetting first-place Montreal Impact yesterday.

Whitecaps won the two-game, total goals United Soccer Leagues' First Division semifinal 2-0 in an extra-time thriller. They will meet the Rochester Raging Rhinos, who knocked off the Charleston Battery 1-0, in the final in Rochester on Saturday at 4 p.m. PT.

The original Whitecaps were Soccer Bowl '79 champs in the North American Soccer League. As the 86ers, the club won four consecutive Canadian Soccer League titles but lost all four USL semifinal tries before this weekend.

Impact achieved a 0-0 draw with the Whitecaps Friday at Swangard Stadium, but Vancouver broke the semifinal jinx thanks to a goal by Eduardo Sebrango to register their second all-time win over the Impact.
