Vancouver Whitecaps men forgot to pack their momentum before last week's three-game road trip.

Whitecaps were coming off impressive home wins over the Puerto Rico Islanders and Portland Timbers and sought to do better than break-even on the road. Instead, the squad managed just one point of a |possible nine on the eastern swing.

That came in Friday's 1-1 tie with the Montreal Impact. Steve Kindel scored in the 20th minute while Montreal's Mauricio Vincello grabbed the tie after the 90th minute.

Toronto beat Vancouver 2-1 for its first win of 2006 July 5. Sita Taty-Matondo was the only Whitecap scorer.

Whitecaps began the road trip July 3 with a 2-0 to the Rochester Raging Rhinos at their new PAETEC Park. Goalkeeper Scott Vallow stonewalled the Whitecaps, who outshot their hosts 20-8.

Whitecaps (6-4-8) cling to first place overall in the USL First Division by two points over Rochester. Montreal could take over top spot with a win tonight against T.O.

Whitecaps will seek their second road win of 2006 when they visit the Minnesota Thunder Friday (5 p.m., AM730). They'll put their unbeaten home record on the line when they host the Impact Sunday at 7 p.m. (AM730/Shaw TV).
