One man is bigger than Lionel Messi in Argentina.
Diego Maradona, while tiny in stature, still packs a big punch.
Well, a big slap, that is.
On Saturday, the 53-year-old oft-embattled World Cup great reportedly took issue with an Argentinean reporter winking or gesturing at his girlfriend, the UK’s Metro reported.
Video of the incident appears to show the 5-foot-5 Maradona raising his voice at reporters before stepping out of his vehicle and approaching one of the men.
After a brief word with a journalist, video shows Maradona land an open palm to the reporter’s jaw.
Maradona was with the mother of his kid, Veronica Ojeda, and their son over the weekend when the incident took place.
He led Argentina to a World Cup title at Mexico 1986.
During his career, Maradona appeared at four World Cups before being sent home from the ’94 tournament after testing positive for a banned substance.
Since then, one of the game’s biggest names has dealt with substance abuse problems and illness.
