Whether you love or hate Cristiano Ronaldo, this will put a smile on your face.

The polarizing Real Madrid forward did a tremendous kindness to the family of a 10-month-old boy suffering from a brain disorder, covering the cost of a vital $83,000 operation, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The family of Erik Ortiz Cruz was trying to raise funds for the pricey surgery to help with the boy’s cortical dysplasia, condition that can cause dozens of seizures per day, with a social media awareness campaign.

Ronaldo was asked to donate some signed gear to auction off with proceeds going toward the child’s treatment. The reigning FIFA Ballon d’Or award winner did that and one better, paying for the procedure himself.

This is not the first time Ronaldo has helped a sick kid in need. In June 2012, he paid for a nine-year-old Spanish boy’s cancer treatment.
