Canada's roster for soccer friendlies has many veterans and youngsters

The Canadian men’s national team released a list of 33 players on Wednesday who have been called up for a pair of September friendlies against Mauritania in southern Spain.

Head coach Benito Floro’s first camp since taking over on Aug. 1 will feature a mix of new and old as veterans like Dwayne De Rosario, Julian de Guzman and Atiba Hutchinson join a host of inexperienced youth.

Toronto FC is set to be the only Canadian MLS team represented when Canada’s 10-day camp opens on Sept. 1 in Valencia.

Toronto’s Doneil Henry, Ashtone Morgan, Kyle Bekker and Jonathan Osorio, all of whom featured for Canada at last month’s Gold Cup, will be under the microscope as a new era begins under new direction.

“This first camp is important for us as we want to achieve our tactical structure as soon as possible,” Floro said. “It will also be important to establish the relationship between the coaches and players.”
