Robbie Rogers debuts with LA Galaxy as first openly gay male active in pro sports

An openly gay male athlete played in a North American major league game for the first time ever Sunday night.

Robbie Rogers was called in as a substitute during the LA Galaxy's 4-0 triumph over the Seattle Sounders in Carson, Calif.

Rogers, 26, who is from Huntington Beach, Calif.,, was signed to the team on Saturday.

The midfielder took to his Twitter account following the team's victory.
