The Canadian women’s national soccer team finished with a perfect 3-0 record in its group at the Cyprus Cup on Monday, topping the Netherlands 1-0 on the final day of group play to advance to Wednesday’s tournament final.
In her second game back from suspension, Christine Sinclair scored the game’s only goal in the 42nd minute off a feed from Mississauga, Ont., native Jonelle Filigno.
The goal was the 145th of Sinclair’s storied career.
Helped on by a first-half penalty save from Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod, Canada finished atop Group B with nine points, five points ahead of second-place Switzerland.
The Dutch (two points) and Finland (one point) rounded out the group.
Canada next faces England in its third-consecutive Cyprus Cup final after finishing second to France a year ago.
