Christine Sinclair scored the game-winning goal for Canada in a 2-1 result over Finland at the Cyprus Women's Cup in Nicosia Friday.
It was the first game back for the 29-year-old captain, after serving a four-game suspension for her publicized criticisms involving Norwegian referee Christiana Pedersen during the 2012 Olympic games. She converted a penalty in the 37th minute.
Finland struck first however, scoring in the sixth minute. Jonelle Filigno would respond in the 30th minute by scoring in the top right corner on the Finnish goalkeeper.
"I was happy with our overall performance today," said Canadian coach John Herdman. "We knew Finland would be a good team and they gave us some nervous moments. Thankfully Sinclair and Filigno scored the goals to take us to the final."
The win puts Canada into Wednesday's final against New Zealand or England.
