Denmark strolled to a 4-0 win over an experimental Canadian men’s national soccer team in Tucson, Ariz. on Saturday.

In its first game since suffering an embarrassing World Cup qualifying exit last October, Canada’s sloppy defending allowed Denmark to jump out to a commanding 3-0 lead before the break.

First half goals from Danish teenager Andreas Cornelius and Kasper Lorentzen put the game out of reach before the game was half-old.

Cornelius completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute to cap off the scorline in front of a neutral crowd of 3,402 at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium in the American southwest.

“We are absolutely disappointed with the score line, but it was an incredible learning experience for everyone on our team,” Miller said.

“We’re disappointed in the manner of the goals we gave away; but there are aspects of our play we are pleased with."

Leading up to Saturday’s friendly, interim Canadian manager Colin Miller warned Canada would likely suffer growing pains as it looks to offer experience to younger players who will be around when 2018 World Cup qualifying begins in three years.

Denmark, on the other hand, used the game as preparation for UEFA World Cup qualifying in March.

Canada next travels to Houston for a game against the U.S. on Tuesday while the Danes head to Phoenix for a friendly against Mexico a day later.
