The Canadian men's soccer team will battle the desert heat when they play a friendly against Japan in Doha, Qatar on March 22.

This will be the third game of the new year for the squad, after a pair of games against Denmark in Tucson, Ariz., and the U.S. in Houston in later this month.

The last time Canada faced Japan was at the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2001, where they lost to the Asian side 3-0.

The match will be part of Canada's preparations for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup to be hosted by the U.S. in July.
