LONDON -- The English Football Association announced Tuesday that Roy Hodgson has been named manager of the country's national team, inking a four-year deal to become Fabio Capello's full-time replacement.

Capello's resignation on Feb. 8 left a void atop the coaching pyramid of the English national team for almost three months, but Hodgson's appointment ensures that England will avoid taking a caretaker manager to Euro 2012.

Hodgson has won a total of eight league titles over the course of his managerial career and previously managed the national teams of Switzerland, Finland and the United Arab Emirates.

The 64-year-old's lengthy club resume includes managing stints at Inter Milan, Blackburn, Udinese, Fulham and Liverpool. Hodgson currently manages English Premier League club West Bromwich but will conclude the season with the Baggies before taking the England post on May 13.
