David Beckham wants to buy a soccer team when he retires from playing.

The England superstar, currently playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, has long been linked with offers to coach a professional side in his native U.K. when he hangs up his boots.

But he's now spoken out to reveal he has ruled out a move into team management and plans to buy and run a Major League Soccer club in the U.S. instead.

Beckham signed a new two-year deal last month to continue playing for the Galaxy.

"I will stay in football, but not in management -- I like coaching kids but that's as far as it goes," he told Britain's Hello! magazine.

"I've got the possibility of ownership of a football club in the MLS, which I'm interested in, too. But I'm still playing football, so I'll worry about that once I've stopped."
