DOHA, QATAR - David Beckham has turned down a deal that would have seen him end his soccer career in France.

Instead, the 36-year-old is staying with the Los Angeles Galaxy for at least one more year after talks with Paris Saint-Germain fell through.

Beckham led the Galaxy to victory over the Houston Dynamo in America's MLS Cup almost two months ago.

"We weren't far (from reaching an agreement), but there are family issues and I think that was the reason," St. Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi said Tuesday.

It was very difficult (for Beckman) to move the family."

Beckham, his wife, Victoria, their three sons and baby daughter Harper are settled in Los Angeles. Harper was born there last summer.

Beckham will make a reported $6.5 million next season with the Galaxy.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
