MLS notebook: TFC trades for defender Hall
By Kurtis Larson, QMI Agency
Toronto FC announced Tuesday the club acquired FC Dallas defender Jeremy Hall for a second round MLS pick in 2013.
“We’re happy to add (Hall) to our club,” head coach Aron Winter said. “He is a solid defender with excellent MLS experience.”
The 23-year-old former US youth international made 21 league appearances last season between FC Dallas and the Portland Timbers.
He made 37 appearances for New York over two seasons before being traded to Portland last year.
“Defence is one of the areas that we want to address this offseason and acquiring Jeremy is a positive step forward for our club.”
After allowing an MLS-worst 59 goals last season, the move helps shore up a TFC defence that was light in depth and riddled with injuries in 2011.
Toronto becomes the fourth club Hall has played for in just over a year.
