MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - The FA announced Tuesday that it has charged Chelsea for failing to control its players following an incident in the club's 1-0 loss to QPR on Sunday.

The charge stems from an incident when a crowd of Chelsea players surrounded match officials after defender Jose Bosingwa was sent off.

The FA has also demanded that Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas further explain his post-match critical comments of referee Chris Foy and his assistant referees.

Chelsea has until Friday to respond on both counts.
