MLS fines New York $10,000, L.A. $5,000
By Sports Network

Red Bull New York was fined $10,000 and the Los Angeles Galaxy $5,000 on Friday by Major League Soccer.

New York was fined for public criticism of officiating, following a statement released by General Manager/Sporting Director Erik Soler on Monday. Soler was upset after Thierry Henry was sent off, and released a statement criticizing officials.

"I can safely say that the level of refereeing was absolutely below the standards of what is required for a MLS match and completely unacceptable," part of Soler's statement read.

"The statement released by Red Bull New York this week undermines our substantial efforts to continue improving all aspects of our competition," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said.

Los Angeles was fined for failing to report an injury to David Beckham ahead of its match against the Colorado Rapids last week. MLS decided L.A. left him off the injury list, although they knew he would miss the game with back spasms.
