FCD's Ferreira suffers broken ankle
By Sports Network

VANCOUVER - Reigning Major League Soccer Most Valuable Player and FC Dallas midfielder David Ferreira is facing a long spell on the sidelines after he suffered a broken ankle in his team's 2-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday.

Ferreira sustained the injury after a challenge from Whitecaps defender Jonathan Leathers and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher, with X- rays later confirming the extent of the injury.

The Colombian will undergo further evaluation upon his return to Dallas, with surgery having not yet been scheduled.

Ferreira claimed the league's MVP last season after scoring eight goals and assisting on 13 more, while he has started this campaign with three goals and one assist in six games.
