MLS suspends, fines two players

NEW YORK -- The Major League Disciplinary Committee announced two suspensions on Friday.

Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Servando Carrasco was suspended for one game and fined $500 for a reckless challenge on Chicago Fire forward Patrick Nyarko in an April 9 fixture. Carrasco received a yellow card for the foul, but MLS determined that the challenge deserved more punishment. Carrasco will miss Saturday's match at Philadelphia.

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Jovan Kirovski, who earned a red card for verbal abuse of the official after an April 9 game match D.C. United had an additional game and $750 fine added to the automatic one game suspension and $250 fine which accompanies the red card.

Kirovski, who served the first game of his suspension during the Galaxy's draw in Toronto on Wednesday, will also miss Los Angeles' match at Chicago on Sunday.
