Robben hit with two-match ban
By Sports Network
MUNICH -- Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben was hit with a two-match suspension on Monday after he was sent off following the final whistle in Bayern's 1-1 draw with Nurnberg on Saturday.
Robben confronted referee Knut Kircher after the match claiming that Bayern should have been awarded a penalty kick earlier in the contest, and Kircher proceeded to hand him a red card.
The disciplinary commission of the German Football Federation announced the suspension on Monday, along with a $20,000 fine.
Both Robben and the club have accepted the penalty, which will rule him out of a big showdown with Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, as well as the team's following match at Eintracht.
The Dutchman missed the first half of the season because of injury, but has returned to score nine goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances.
