Soccer superstar David Beckham has reportedly been ordered to pay US$272,000 in legal costs to magazine bosses who published allegations he cheated on his wife Victoria with a hooker.

Irma Nici hit headlines around the world last year when she sensationally claimed Beckham had paid for her services twice in 2007.

The sportsman slammed the allegations and immediately launched a US$25 million libel lawsuit against her and In Touch magazine, which published the story.

Beckham was dealt a blow in February when his suit was dismissed by a U.S. judge for failing to produce evidence that editors published the story with malice.

The sports star has lodged an appeal to overturn the decision, but he's now been ordered to pay US$272,000 to executives at Bauer Publishing, which oversees In Touch, to cover the cost of their legal fees, according to Britain's The Sun.
