Soccer player sent off for tackling streaker
By QMI Agency

Ashley Vickers wasn't about to let a loonie in a lime-green thong spoil his soccer game.

So the Dorchester Town player-manager did what he felt was the right thing when a fan wearing a Borat-style "mankini" ran on to the pitch during the second half of a tied game against Havant & Waterlooville Monday.

Vickers jolted the curly wigged doofus with a neck-high tackle after he ran rings around chasing stewards, bringing a painful end to the spectacle.

His reward? A red card from referee David Spain.

"I'm dumbfounded and speechless," Vickers told The Dorset Echo. "The funny thing was the stewards actually thanked me for it. But the ref decided to send me off and it beggars belief."

The nearly nude streaker, identified by BBC Radio Solent as Havant & Waterlooville fan Alan Young, admitted he ran on to the field on a dare. "It was only a bit of a joke, we all agreed at my local pub on Sunday I'd do it as a bet," Young told BBC Radio. "The security there were too slow but Vickers caught me quite well. He should be a rugby player."

Short-handed Dorchester, which plays in England's sixth tier of soccer, lost 3-1.

Do you think Chad Johnson can still play at a high level in the NFL?
Yes, he is a talented receiver
No, he is too old to play
CFL might be a better option
