Chongqing, China - Lindsey Tarpley scored in the 70th minute and the United States women's national team rebounded from a loss to Sweden to edge Canada, 2-1, on Sunday in the Four Nations Tournament at the Yongchuan Sports Centre Stadium.

The U.S., ranked No. 1 in the world by FIFA, had dropped two of its last five, but Lauren Cheney scored in the 53rd to end a scoreless tie and, after Melissa Tancredi scored in the 55th for Canada, Tarpley followed with the game-winner.

The United States lost to Sweden, 2-1, in its tournament opener Friday. It was the first time in more than seven years the U.S. lost after having the lead.

The Americans play China in their last game of the tournament on Tuesday, when Canada plays Sweden. China, which did not qualify for this summer's FIFA World Cup in Germany, defeated Sweden 2-1 in Saturday's other match.
