BARCELONA, Spain -- Netherlands midfielder Ibrahim Afellay has sealed his transfer from PSV Eindhoven to Barcelona, signing a 4 1/2-year deal with the Spanish side Friday.
Afellay, 24, joined Barca on a transfer of nearly $4 million, with PSV due an additional amount if the attacking midfielder is sold in the future. Barcelona indicated Afellay would be its only addition in the winter transfer window.
He can debut against Levante on Jan. 2, when La Liga leader Barca resumes play after the league's short winter break.
