Platini will remain UEFA president
By Sports Network

NYON, Switzerland -- Michel Platini will remain UEFA president for another four years, as he was confirmed as the lone candidate for the spot on Thursday.

Platini became UEFA president in 2007 when he edged Lennart Johansson for the position, and will be officially re-elected in March. His second term will run from 2011-15.

The deadline to apply for president was Wednesday, with the other positions on the UEFA board still open for application for another month. The positions are to be announced at the XXXV Ordinary UEFA Congress in Paris on March 22.
