VILLARREAL, Spain -- Villarreal signed Spain international Joan Capdevila to a two-year contract extension on Monday.

The 32-year-old Capdevila's deal was set to expire next summer, but he is now tied to the club until June 2013.

Capdevila joined the Yellow Submarine from Deportivo in 2007, and he has helped the club reach third place in the La Liga table this season with one goal in 15 appearances.
