Italy not interested in rematch
By Sports Network

ROME -- The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) stated on Monday that it is opposed to holding a rematch against Serbia after the Euro 2012 qualifier between the two teams was abandoned earlier this month.

The game, which took place in Genoa, was abandoned after just seven minutes as Serbian fans threw flares onto the field after the game had already been delayed because of crowd trouble from the away supporters section.

UEFA is currently investigating the incident and could award Italy a 3-0 win if it finds the Serbian supporters to be at fault. The case regarding this matter will be heard on Oct. 28.

Serbia is hoping to arrange for a rematch of the contest, but FIGC general director Antonello Valentini told RAI that doing so would be a "gift" to Serbia, and that the FIGC is not interested in that option.
