Ribery to miss 4 weeks
By Sports Network

MUNICH -- Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is expected to be out of action for the next four weeks because of an ankle injury.

The Frenchman damaged ligaments in his ankle during Tuesday's 2-1 win over Hoffenheim, but team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt has reported that no surgery will be required.

The 27-year-old Ribery will now miss league matches against Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Hannover as well as Champions League contests with CFR Cluj and FC Basel.

The team is hoping that Ribery will be fit to return to the lineup on October 22 for a Bundesliga match with Hamburg.

Ribery suffered through an injury-plagued season last year as he made just 10 starts in league play, with nine more appearances as a substitute.
