Reports from SI.com and ESPN are circulating that French star Thierry Henry has signed a deal with Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls and will join the club following the upcoming FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The 32-year-old striker has been playing with FC Barcelona since 2007 and has recorded 34 goals in 78 games, though he struggled with the club this past season scoring only four goals in 19 appearances.

Henry has been a staple on the French international teams since 1999 and was at the centre of an international dispute following a 1-1 draw against Ireland in November where he admitted that he had used his hand twice to control the ball on the games' deciding play - a play which ensured Ireland would not be headed to the World Cup.

Following the incident he publicly considered retirement based on the fallout in the media and amongst soccer fans, though he eventually decided against it.

In 118 international appearances, Henry has 51 goals.

No details have been released in regards to the contract.
