Both Vancouver Whitecaps teams saw their 16-game unbeaten streaks end in weekend shutout losses.

Carolina RailHawk Connally Edozian scored in the 57th minute for the expansion club's 1-0 Friday win at Swangard Stadium. The Whitecaps outshot Carolina 13-3. Goalkeeper Tony Caig allowed Carolina's only second half shot.

"They were organized at the back and they played a good road game," said Whitecaps' captain Jeff Clarke. "They had one chance and put it away."

League champion Whitecaps (5-1-2) remain in first place with 17 points. It was their first loss since Aug. 19, 2006 in Seattle.

"I could've told you guys eight weeks ago that we wouldn't go unbeaten the whole year, it's not going to happen in this league," said Whitecaps' head coach Bob Lilley. "I liked that we dropped a game not because we didn't show up."

The Whitecaps visit Montreal Impact on June 1 and the California Victory in San Francisco on June 7. Their only home game of the month is June 10 against the Minnesota Thunder.

Meanwhile, Seattle Crossfire Sounder Chalise Baysa scored twice to beat W-League champion Whitecaps 2-0 on Saturday in Tukwila, Wash.

It was Vancouver's first loss since 2005's W-League semifinal.

The Whitecaps women host San Diego Sunwaves on June 10.
