American alpine ski star Lindsey Vonn is getting more bodyguards thanks to her sponsor, Red Bull.

The Vancouver Olympic gold medallist told the Boston Globe Sunday that the security is meant to ensure she can “get in and out and not have any difficulty”.

“I don’t expect there to be any problems. But it’s better to be safe than sorry,” she said.

The 28-year-old has recovered from an intestinal illness in November and is looking to medal at the World Championships, which begin Tuesday in Austria.

“I'm finally coming in healthy,” Vonn said Sunday. “I'm definitely getting ready to get my game-face on.”
