VANCOUVER -- Torino 2006 freestyle skiing gold medalist Jennifer Heil is back to business after taking care of business.

The 25-year-old Edmontonian took last season off for technical reconditioning and education in Montreal. She split her time between sessions with an athletic therapist and McGill University where she is studying for a commerce degree specializing in marketing.

"I notice a big difference every week," Heil said. "I'm really excited to be back on snow, back in the start gate. I noticed how much I missed it."

She also toured schools in Burkina Faso, Africa on a mission for Plan Canada.

"I had the amazing opportunity to meet classrooms full of girls receiving school scholarships because girls (in Africa) are often the last ones to be educated," she said. "It was a very inspiring, incredible life experience."

Heil made her first training run on the Cypress Mountain Olympic venue Wednesday along with moguls teammates like West Vancouver's Warren Tanner and Summerland's Kristi Richards. The 2009 season includes a Feb. 5-7 World Cup test event at Cypress. Last year's was marred by fog and rain.

"It's great for us to be here to get used to the changing conditions, the conditions are always changing," she said.
