It’s hard to top a season that ends with a scoring title and an NLL MVP.

Shawn Evans, however, may come close.

While the Calgary Roughnecks’ 5-foot-8 offensive wizard likely won’t be able to equal his 112-point season of a year ago, Evans has once again proven he’s one of the most creative distributors in the nine-team circuit, dishing out a league-high 75 assists, which has him five away from equalling the franchise mark of 80 he set in 2013 and seven off Toronto Rock star Garrett Billings’ NLL record of 82.

Tied with Rochester Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson at 98 points, three in arrears of Billings in the NLL scoring race, there’s a chance Saturday night is a special one for the 28-year-old Peterborough, Ont., product in the Roughnecks’ regular-season finale against the Vancouver Stealth (8 p.m., Langley Events Centre, YouTube.com/TLN).
