The Vanier Cup is coming to Montreal for the first time in its history.

In partnership with the Montreal Alouettes, Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced the university football championship game will be held at Percival-Molson Stadium on Nov. 29.

The game will be the 50th championship game in Vanier Cup history.

"Montreal is hosting the Vanier Cup for the first time and I am very proud," mayor Denis Coderre said in a release. "This announcement demonstrates that Montreal is a city of major sporting events. The economic and touristic growth and distinction that this event will bring to Montreal is another reason for us to celebrate."

The Alouettes will organize the event and will take charge of ticket sales as well as game-day operations for the championship game.
