A 3-foot brown snake was looking to get in on the action during a rugby game in Australia on Monday.

The National Rugby League game between the Gold Coast Titans and North Queensland was upstaged by the snake slithering along the sidelines.

The players kept going but fans and stadium staff quickly noticed the venomous snake and tried to remove it as safely as possible.

Stadium staff eventually scared the unidentified species into a water pipe, and off the sidelines.

After the game, Titans’ player Greg Bird said he didn’t know about the snake, and joked about the incident.

“I wish it bit me, it would have given me an excuse to lay down and have a rest,” Bird told the Associated Press.

While it hasn’t been confirmed that the snake is venomous, most brown snakes found in Australia are highly venomous.

The Titans ended up winning the match 13-12 over North Queensland.
